How the Inflation Calculator Works
This calculator shows how inflation erodes the purchasing power of money over time, helping you understand what an amount today will really be worth β or cost β in the future.
It compounds your chosen inflation rate over the number of years you select, applying the formula future value = amount Γ (1 + rate)^years, and also calculates the reverse to show present value.
Example: $1,000 today at 3% annual inflation over 20 years would need to grow to about $1,806 just to have the same buying power β meaning your purchasing power would shrink by roughly 45% if the amount stayed fixed.
